Ask for quote

For a free quote (usually the same day) for a TRANSLATION:

a) Send an email to allenglish@wanadoo.fr with the final text to be translated as an attached document (preferably in Microsoft Word) specifying the deadline, the type of document (article, website …) and whether to use UK or US English spelling.

or

b) send an email with the following information:
1) Subject of the text
2) Format (paper, Word, Excel, Power Point …)
3) Number of source words to be translated
4) Type of document (article, website etc.)
5) Deadline
6)  UK or US English? Is the text targeted at readers for whom English is a second language? You may have to consult your foreign business partners for the most appropriate English. For publication both are usually acceptable as long as UK or US spelling is used consistently.

Note: if the text is not in Word, the quote will be higher and less accurate because more time will be needed for the translation. With Word, it is easy to count the exact number of words, the translation can be typed directly into the text, thus preserving the original format and so the task is easier to carry out.

If the quote is accepted, then an official order form with official header and billing address will be required. I am known for replying quickly to enquiries and meeting agreed deadlines.

For a free quote for a PROOFREADING or EDITING job:

Send an email to allenglish@wanadoo.fr with the final version of the text to be corrected as an attached document (preferably in Microsoft Word), specifying the deadline and whether to use UK or US English spelling. A simple proofreading task involves only checking the grammar, spelling, punctuation and syntax. Most clients expect more than this, especially if the text is going to be published and sentences may have to be re-phrased to sound less “foreign” and more appropriate vocabulary used where necessary.  Therefore the quote is for editing unless stated otherwise. If the text sent is not a final version, this needs to be stated clearly as the quote will not be definitive until the final version is received. The text will be returned showing all changes made to the original text. Please state if you prefer to receive a “clean” copy with the corrections hidden.

If the quote is accepted, then an official order form with official header and billing address will be required. I am known for replying quickly to enquiries and meeting agreed deadlines.
